For Alpine Custom Carpentry, we followed the construction of a new home near Hayden Lake, producing aerial video and stills at the beginning and end of framing. Then we produced a Matterport® 3D virtual tour prior to wall cover, creating a fully explorable 3D model of the home as-built.
Rather than provide aerial video and stills as separate media, we embedded them into one virtual tour experience. Once inside, the viewer sees "tags" that allow the viewer to view detail shots, electric panel layouts, or click on video views of a certain part of the building.
The tour can be viewed on a workstation or mobile device and is therefore useful to inspectors and contractors who need to manage a punch list of remediations before the project can pass this major inspection milestone, after which the walls will be covered. All of the subs have a single, fully visualized reference for the location and instructions on punch list tasks.
This "as-built digital twin" is not just useful to the builders and their tradesmen on the job site – it's a valuable takeaway for the homeowners, who will always know what's behind the walls when they want to renovate or improve their home.
Our 3D Punch List package is designed for General Contractors and Homeowners working on a tight budget and does not require a subscription to Procure or other construction software. For those using Procure or similar products, our media can be easily uploaded and integrated into the project management workflow.
